Avoid alcoholic beverages and smoking for 24 hours before and after surgery. Continue to avoid alcohol while taking prescription pain medications.
Do not eat or drink anything after midnight the night before your surgery. This includes water, coffee, candy, and gum.
If you develop a fever, cold, rash or other physical condition that might concern you, please call your doctor before your surgery.
Please check with your primary care physician to see if you should take your usual medications the night before or the morning of your surgery.
Bring an up-to-date list of your medications, including herbs and vitamins. Please include their names and dosages, and the times you take them.
Your anesthesiologist and a member of our nursing staff will call you the day before your surgery to review your medical history and reinforce these important pre-surgery reminders.
