Important Information About Joint-Friendly Foods

When it comes to orthopedics, area residents want to ensure that the health of their bones is a priority. What you eat has a major impact on this part of your health. Certain foods are packed with nutrients that your joints need to be strong and healthy. Knowing more about these foods gives you a chance to ensure that you are flooding your joints with the right nutrients.

Berries

Berries are versatile and there are a number of options, making it easy to incorporate this food into your regular diet. These fruits are able to fight against inflammation due to containing antioxidant compounds that are referred to as anthocyanins. Berries also contain the antioxidant known as ellagic acid, and it also plays an important role in reducing inflammation.

Nuts

A small serving of nuts is often recommended to help trim your waistline since nuts are filling. However, this type of food could also ensure that your joints are healthy. This is because nuts are packed with various antioxidants and healthy fats, both of which are critical for overall joint health. In fact, when comparing two groups of people for a study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, it was found that those who ate nuts had a 51 percent lower chance of falling victim to an inflammatory disease compared to the group of people who ate little to no nuts.

Orange Vegetables

When you think of carrots and orange vegetables, you likely think about your eye health. While these vegetables do contain eye-healthy nutrients, they also contain good things for your joints. The beta-carotene, vitamin A and beta-cryptoxanthin are all critical for protecting your joints by fighting against inflammation. It is ideal to work at least one of the orange vegetables into your daily diet. Some of the best choices that are the easiest to work with include carrots, sweet potatoes, and butternut squash.

Dark, Leafy Greens

It is easy to work a salad into your daily diet that incorporates a few of the different dark leafy green vegetables. It is important for your joints because these vegetables may help to slow the progression of arthritis, ward it off when it is not already present or reduce the associated pain. This is thanks to inflammation levels being lowered by antioxidants.

You can talk to an orthopedic specialist to get more information about how your diet might impact the overall health of your joints. These foods here not only ensure that your joints have the nutrients that they need, but they are healthy overall too. This means that your entire body is getting flooded with necessary vitamins and minerals.
