OSI Becomes the First Surgery Center in Wisconsin to Earn Coveted Certification

OSI of the Fox Valley Achieves AAAHC Advanced Orthopaedic Certification

APPLETON, Wis. (September 15, 2020) — The Orthopedic and Sports Institute of the Fox Valley (OSI) has achieved Advanced Orthopaedic Certification in Total Joint Replacements by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). Certification lasts for three years and is focused on patient outcomes and based upon stringent accreditation requirements related to high-quality care and compliance with rigorous, specialty-focused standards.

Earning this certification means OSI has met the highest level of nationally-recognized standards for quality healthcare set by AAAHC. OSI had previously achieved AAAHC accreditation, and certification builds upon that designation. It assesses OSI’s use of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines, ongoing performance improvement strategies, and infrastructure that promotes excellence.

“Achieving the AAAHC advanced certification demonstrates our high-level commitment to quality practices,” said CEO Curt Kubiak. “Earning this certification is no small feat, and the members of our organization have worked diligently to reach the standards necessary to earn this high honor and recognition.”

In addition to the extensive review process of the surgery center operations as a whole, each OSI doctor was evaluated by AAAHC on the level of quality delivered to their patients.

The three-year – or 1,095-day – period between certifications is a critical time when ambulatory health organizations, with help from proven experts, can develop the kind of everyday habits that enable leaders in the industry to provide the utmost in quality care to their patients. Therefore, the aptly-named 1095 Strong is a transformational movement and call-to-action spearheaded by the AAAHC to equip ambulatory leaders with the best of what they need to operationalize quality practices. Organizations like OSI that earn AAAHC Certification embody the spirit of 1095 Strong – an ongoing commitment to high-quality care and patient safety.

Ambulatory health care organizations seeking AAAHC Advanced Orthopaedic Certification undergo an extensive self-assessment and on-site survey by AAAHC expert surveyors – physicians, nurses, and administrators who are actively involved in orthopaedic care. The survey is peer based and educational, presenting best practices to help an organization improve its care and services.

While the on-site survey was an important component of the certification process, ongoing compliance and continuous improvement are part of the certification maintenance mindset that a AAAHC-certified facility should integrate into its daily activities long after the survey has been completed.

OSI’s state-of-the-art, boutique-style surgery center is located in Appleton. It has additional clinic locations in De Pere, Appleton, Shawano, New London, Oshkosh, Ripon, Marinette, Manitowoc, Door County, and Waupaca.
