Curt has been the guiding force behind OSI’s business direction and development since 2007. During this time, Curt has been instrumental in OSI’s growth to include orthopedic surgery, spine surgery, podiatry, pain management, physical therapy, sports medicine, orthotics, imaging, and skilled nursing. Under Curt’s direction, recent OSI accomplishments include total hip, total knee, and ankle replacements at the OSI surgery center; bundled payments for orthopedic surgeries; the creation of Recovery Inn, a first-of-its-kind recovery facility dedicated to orthopedics; and a multi-year contract for athletic training services for the Appleton Area School District’s three high schools.
Curt holds a BS in Finance/International Business and Spanish from Marquette University and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin—Oshkosh. He is green belt certified in lean management and value stream mapping. His previous experience in the manufacturing and product realization industry brings a unique perspective on efficiency and process improvement to OSI.
He is an active member of the community, who sits on the board of the Community First Fox Cities Marathon. He is also a member of the UW—Oshkosh MBA Advisory Board.
Fred became Chief Operating Officer at OSI in 2013. This position was created to lead all internal operations including the Surgery Center, MRI, Concierges, Facilities Management, Recovery Inn, Community Programs, and Partner Relationships. Under Fred’s leadership OSI has formalized its governance, undergone construction in the Surgery Center to increase capacity by 30%, converted the MRI unit to the newest G.E. operating system, forged new medical relationships, and developed a spirit of collaboration among OSI partners and employees.
He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge from a 35-year career in YMCA management, most recently from the National YMCA office in Chicago where he served as Vice President of Certification and Membership Standards and Small to Mid-Size YMCA Executive. Fred’s proficiency in community relations as well as his organizational and people skills contributes considerably to the success of the OSI team.
Fred is passionate about the community, especially its youth. He gives freely his time and expertise to the YMCA of the Fox Cities and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Fox Valley. Fred also serves on the board of the Sports Authority.
