Padraic Obma, M.D.

“There’s no question we shouldn’t answer because if it’s asked, it’s important.”

Dr. Obma joined the Orthopedic Clinic of Appleton in 2016 and treats patients in De Pere and Appleton. An orthopedic surgeon certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Obma specializes in arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle. Fellowship-trained in sports medicine, he is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.

 

Dr. Obma has filed several patents based on medical innovations he devised, including the invention of a new shoulder operation to repair torn rotator cuff tendons.

Dr. Springer, a graduate of Oshkosh North High School and Dartmouth College, joined Valley Orthopedic Clinic in 1988.

A board-certified orthopedic surgeon and an Active Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Dr. Springer is also a member of the Wisconsin Medical Society as well as a clinical instructor for the Fox Valley Family Medicine Residency Program. He holds a subspecialty certificate in orthopaedic sports medicine granted by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Dr. Springer participates in the Lawrence University and Appleton Area School District Athletic Programs as well as OSI's Medical Mentoring Program.

Dr. Schaufelberger, a Milwaukee area native, treats patients in Appleton and Waupaca. An orthopedic surgeon certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, he has completed fellowship specialty training in shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand surgery. Dr. Schaufelberger has been practicing in the Fox Valley since 2007, and joined the Orthopedic Clinic of Appleton in 2012.

He is an Active Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, a member of the Orthopedic & Sport Institute’s Medical Mentoring Program, and an Associate Clinical Professor for the Medical College of Wisconsin.

Jay Minorik, M.D.

Dr. Minorik, who joined Valley Orthopedic Clinic in 2002, treats patients in Appleton and Shawano.

A board-certified orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Minorik has a subspecialty in sports medicine and earned his sports medicine fellowship at the American Sports Medicine Institute. He an Active Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a member of the Wisconsin Medical Society and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.

Dr. Lohrbach, an Appleton native and graduate of Fox Valley Lutheran High School, returned to Appleton in 2002 to join the Orthopedic Clinic of Appleton. An orthopedic surgeon certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and an Active Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, he practices in Appleton, New London, and Waupaca.

Todd Derksen, D.P.M.

Certified by the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery, Dr. Derksen joined the Orthopedic & Sports Institute in 2008 and is a member of the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons. The Journal of Foot & Ankle Surgery published Dr. Derksen's most recent professional article on total ankle replacement in the September/October 2017 Journal of Foot & Ankle Surgery.

He has earned numerous awards in his field: the Michael L. Stone, D.P.M., Award for Outstanding Professional Conduct, the Proficiency in Biomechanics and Orthopedic Diseases Award, and the Timothy Holbrook Memorial Award of Excellence in Medicine and Orthopedics. 

Dr. Derksen's medical outreach has included a clinical and surgical mission to Northern New Mexico Indian Health Services in Shiprock, New Mexico as well as trips to Africa on surgical missions for Lower Extremity Reconstructions with Physicians for Peace.

Dr. Eggert, a West Bend native, began practicing in Appleton in 1986 with the Orthopedic Clinic of Appleton. An orthopedic surgeon certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, he is an Active Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a member of the Wisconsin Medical Society. Dr. Eggert has provided care to athletes at the NFL Scouting Combine as a member of the National Football League Physicians Society. In addition to his practice, Dr. Eggert participates in the Lawrence University and Ripon College Athletic Programs and is a clinical instructor for the Fox Valley Family Medicine Residency Center. Dr. Eggert founded the Medical Mentoring Program offered in partnership with area schools and the Orthopedic & Sports Institute and has served as the president of First English Lutheran Church, president of Appleton East Athletic Club, and the co-chair of Appleton School District Referendum. Chris Weinlander, M.D.

Dr. Weinlander is a board-certified anesthesiologist and a board-certified pain medicine specialist. He is also a member of the Wisconsin Medical Society, a Specialty Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians.

Past chairman of the Anesthesiology Department at both Appleton Medical Center and Theda Clark Medical Center, Dr. Weinlander served as assistant professor for the Fox Valley Family Practice Residency Program. He is a clinical instructor for the Medical Mentoring Program, offered in partnership with area high schools and the Orthopedic & Sports Institute.

A Michigan native, Dr. Weinlander has served our community as an anesthesiologist since 1986.

Ms. Brochtrup joined Dr. Derksen and Valley Orthopedic Clinic in 2016 and treats patients in Appleton and Waupaca. As an Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber, Ms. Brochtrup treats patients with general podiatric concerns, assists with surgery, and provides pre-operative and post-operative care for surgery patients. Justin Guzman, PA-C

Justin Guzman, a native of Appleton, joined Dr. Lohrbach’s team at the Orthopedic Clinic of Appleton in 2017. Justin takes pride in combining his local understanding of Northeast Wisconsin with his training from the Yale School of Medicine PA Program, along with his background in sports medicine, spine care, fractures, orthopedic trauma, work injuries and ergonomics to provide personalized care of the highest quality to his patients.

He is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Wisconsin Academy of Physician Assistants, and Physician Assistants in Orthopedic Surgery.

Mr. Guzman holds the strong belief that care should be uniquely tailored to the individual needs of his patients. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his family and exploring the beautiful Wisconsin outdoors.
